Report: Saudis Offer Political Asylum to Mullah Omar.....
At the request of Karzai and Bush?.....
Berlin - King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has offered political asylum to Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Omar, 49, German news magazine Der Spiegel reported Saturday, quoting government sources in Kabul.
The report said the approach was made at the request of Afghan President Hamid Karzai and outgoing US president George W Bush.
Karzai hoped the offer would speed up plans for a reconciliation process in the landlocked Asian nation and had promised the Taliban leader safe passage if he decided to return to Afghanistan, Der Spiegel said.
Terrorism experts believe Mullah Omar is hiding in the Pakistan city of Quetta, possibly with the help of the country's Inter- Services Intelligence agency, the report added.

Is Omar starting to feel the heat from those pesky drones?

I kind of like Omar-he's beheading a lot of useless Pakistanis. Maybe if he kills enough of them they may see the light at long last and actually kill some Taliban.

So what, they can feed him, fund him and send him on his way. Never trust Wahhabi scum.

Wonderful. Historically this is how things like this have managed to come to a close. The principals involved are offered asylum in a comfortable location and can retire from the field without surrendering. As long as he keeps his mouth shut and stays out of politics, everything will be peachy.

The traditional price is that all the most loyal followers go into exile....and the next most loyal followers are given up.

If the Saudi's had no trouble taking Idi Amin in after he was ousted from Uganda, Mullah Omar should find himself right at home.

Shouldn't we be grateful that the Saudis are willing help us out in this matter at OUR request? If Omar goes into exile, perhaps fewer NATO soldiers will die in Afganistan and they can come home sooner. The Saudis will make sure he doesn't cause any trouble.
How many Americans have to die to satisfy our lust for revenge in this matter?
