Israel is "racial" state and only has a facade of being democratic, according to Irish academic and author Ronit Lentin.
The senior lecturer from the Institute of International Integration Studies at Trinity College Dublin said that Israel only has the "appearance" of being a democracy with its institutions.
Launching her latest book on Thinking Palestine on Wednesday evening, she said Israel was a racial regime but was not based upon colour nor ethnicity.
Her latest book brings together an inter-disciplinary group of Palestinian, Israeli, American, British and Irish scholars who theorise 'the question of Palestine,' while being critically committed to supporting the quest for self determination.
Lentin defended the actions taken by the Palestinian people in their struggle to regain their homeland, saying that resistance is legal and even suicide bombings against Israeli military targets could be justified.

Any ties to the IRA? Just curious. I don't know a whole lot about Ireland and only vaguely remember that there were a lot of IRA bombings once upon a time in the not too distant past.
