Now, those churches preaching the Gospel of Wealth ("JAY-sus WANTS you to have that SUV!") and picketing the funerals of fallen soldiers, I also suspect He'd have some words to say about those as well. For the past fifty years, the Dems have been the party of the poor, the outcast, the lowly, the unwanted. They have promoted laws that fed the hungry and laws that forced the powerful to recognize the powerless as their equals. Some, like Obama, have also walked the walk in their own communities, helping people find jobs, showing them where to locate resources to feed and house their families after they lost their means of employment. Check out his actual record, and then tell me whether Jesus would have preferred someone who went out and helped the poor face to face, or someone whose biggest claim to fame was pushing through a $15 million sports arena. Which one do you want on your side when Mr. Bush's recession eats your job?

Those in power always have problems when those who don't start demanding equal rights and treatment. There's a strong tendency to recast those demands as "special" or "excessive." Feminists are lambasted for promoting programs that help women more than men. People of color are called "uppity" (direct quote from Rep Westmoreland today) for creating programs that help other people of color rise out of poverty and oppression. It's a common tactic among people with privilege to shut down dissent.

As for hating this country, Mr. Obama isn't married to a seccessionist.
