Didn't Hair Plugs' learn anything from Hillary's "landing under sniper fire" fiasco?....

"Ladies and gentlemen, where are we now? Where are we now?" Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., said to the National Guard Association today, talking about the war in Afghanistan.

"If you want to know where Al Qaeda lives, you want to know where Bin Laden is, come back to Afghanistan with me," Biden said. "Come back to the area where my helicopter was forced down, with a three-star general and three senators at 10,500 feet in the middle of those mountains. I can tell you where they are."

Biden said that Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., "says he’ll follow them to the gates of hell. You don’t have to go to hell. Just go to Pakistan. Just go to that area. That superhighway of terror that exists between Afghanistan and Pakistan."

We hadn't heard before about Biden's helicopter being forced down, so we did some Googling.

In February 2008, Biden -- along with Sens. John Kerry, D-Mass., and Chuck Hagel, R-Neb. -- was on a chopper that made an emergency landing in the mountains of Afghanistan.

A snowstorm had forced them down.

No one was injured, and the Associated Press reported at the time that "the senators and their delegation returned to Bagram Air Base in a motor convoy, and left for Turkey.

"The weather closed in on us," Kerry told the AP at the time in a phone interview from Turkey. "It went pretty blind, pretty fast and we were around some pretty dangerous ridges. So the pilot exercised his judgment that we were better off putting down there, and we all agreed...We sat up there and traded stories."

Kerry joked, "We were going to send Biden out to fight the Taliban with snowballs, but we didn't have to do it…Other than getting a little cold, it was fine."

Dear Sirs:

Your headline to this article is misleading: "Joe Biden: Our helicopter was forced down by Al-Qadea 10,000 feet up a mountain"

is not what he said. He does not mention Al-Qaeda-nor should you!
The point was that his group was in the region where Bin Laden is and that is where we, our coalition forces, should be; we don't have to chase him to hell, just go where he is with conviction and use our military might to find him. Biden said "Forced Down"-enemy fire would not force you down, it would force you away-unless your craft was hit, in which case it would have blown up.

That is not necessarily true...I was in VietNam and saw many helicopters hit by rockets, small arms fire and by large machineguns which made it to the ground safely..and todays helicopters are much more heavily armored that the old Hueys.. Even in Iraq, several helicopters have been hit by enemy fire only to survive...

Have you been watching a lot of Steven Segal/Bruce Willis type Movies lately?...Hollywood will do things that affect your perception of what is and what isn't..

Remember the Jaws movie where the hero shoots the Oxygen tank in the mouth of the Shark...and the tank blows up...,well that would never happen in real life..it won't blow up from being shot at by a rife...it may fizz a lot..

Seen any movies lately where the hero drives a car through the window of a second story level in a parking lot and land on all four wheels and drive away...ain't likely to happen...

Seen any movies where the hero is being attacked by a dozen or so thugs with machine guns and the hero succeeds in killing all of them with a pistol and the hero doesn't even have a scratch..?

Seen any movies where the hero is escaping pursing thugs through the streets of New York during rush hour at break neck speeds and the hero never slows down or runs into a traffic jam?..

...well back to Biden...he may suspect where Al-Zawahiri or Osama may be, but he really doesn't know for sure...

Personally , I think Osama is dead, and Al-Zawahiri has escaped death more than once...

Getting either one or both will do little in the War on terror...the real trouble makers today seem the be the Ayatollah Khomeni and Amadinedjad in Iran, Hamas in Gaza/Lebanon, the all the little Muslims that have immigrated/infiltrated into your neighborhood...These are the soldiers of Islam...
