(Updated) McCain Picks Sarah Palin as VP......
Hot MILFVPILF action here we come......
McCain picks Palin as running mate - NBC
Update: Pro-ANWAR, Pro-Death Penalty, Pro-Life.....
Update 2: Hillary supporters rejoice!
Update 3: Evangelicals are fired up...I heard they like to vote......
Update 4: McCain camp pushes back: More qualified than Obama...
McCain aide Jill Hazelbaker:
It is pretty audacious for the Obama campaign to say that Governor Palin is not qualified to be Vice President. She has a record of accomplishment that Senator Obama simply cannot match. Governor Palin has spent her time in office shaking up government in Alaska and actually achieving results — whether it’s taking on corruption, passing ethics reform or stopping wasteful spending and the ‘bridge to nowhere.’ Senator Obama has spent his time in office running for president.
Update 5: Obama backtracks on this mornings attack, congratulates Palin....
Update 6: Video of first appearance with McCain as VP....

Juan made a great pick. Basically pulled the rug under the messiah. Great move Juan, Ill give you credit fore the pick and how you played it up to take the air out of the Dem convention.

HOT. CLASSY. LADY.
Shocker. But I like this woman. Here's why:
Zip...you'll appreciate this story (I didn't know about until I just heard it on talk radio): Palin gave birth this past spring to her fifth child. The baby was born with Down syndrome. Palin KNEW in advance the baby was going to be born with Down syndrome. Did it matter? Nope. Palin and husband believe they were blessed by God to have this child and they make no bones about it.
Anyone have personal experience with a Down syndrome child? Let me tell you what the definition of unconditional love is: a Down syndrome child. PURE LOVE emanates from a Down syrdrome child. Period. End of discussion. Believe it.
Some might say that a woman trying to make good in her career, knowing she is going to birth a Down syndrome child - with all the special needs of that child - would abort. Some would call that woman a Democrat. And far more likely than not, they'd be right.
Let's get ready to ROCK you wussy ass Dems.

I never saw this coming, but this is a brilliant choice. First, she's strongly anti-abortion, which should please the GOP's conservative, strongly anti-abortion base. She even walked the walk by not aborting her latest child knowing he was going to have Downs syndrome. Can you say courage of her convictions? Second, she has a strong ethics record, standing up to anybody even Republicans if necessary. Third, she's gonna have a strong appeal to Hillary supporting women because she's a mother herself who's shown strength, courage and conviction. They will relate to her far better than the Obama.Biden ticket.
I like it, I like it a lot. Well done, McCain!

I respectfuly completely disagree with all of you.
This was a very bad choice and quite possibly the final nail in our coffin.
It will turn into a who is number 2 issue.
McCaine is on old guy. There is a much greater concern as to the qualifications of running the country if something happens to his ability to lead.
obammy is the most likely canidate to be assinated in memory. Reagan was shot over a movie not being a certain color or being as un American as one could be. That means in the back of everyones mind, who is next in line is the determination.
In the world of what ifs, biden beats her easily.
We have been given, yet again courtesy of soros, a non choice.
2 years in public office does not an iron lady make. It is not a on the job training position.
That big two handed O sign is our collective asses. We have been fucked.
Prepare to be able to defend yourselves.
The next four years are going to be some of the worst.
I'm sorry.

It's crowded enough downhere the way it is :-)
'Dark Helmet' - you get a 4 on the troll-o-meter. Sorry.

I thank you for your prespective. I respectfully disagree.

Opps DH I meant

I disagree with you Dark Helmet. Here's why:
- With so many Hillary supporters completely disapointed by Obama's victory and thinking about voting for McCain, having this strong woman, a mother of five as his running mate, they will have more reason now to do so. The women's vote is now in play, no longer a Democrat slam dunk.
- This strong, conservative, anti-abortion woman solidifies the conservative base. The strongly anti-abortion GOB base is far more likely to support McCain now.
- Obama choses a Washington insider, McCain choses a real outsider with a track record of ethics and common sense.
- Sarah Palin actually has a track record she can openly display. Obama has to try to intimadate people into not looking into his questionable associations like the terrorist William Ayers.
I think the chances of the GOP winning in November just got a lot better. It will still be a tough race what with the MSM in the tank for NObama, but I feel a lot better about our prospects.
Posted by: | August 29, 2008 at 01:38 PM
McCain tossed a big bone to conservatives. I think they will rally behind him now.
Posted by: Elric66 | August 29, 2008 at 01:52 PM
I think this is a very interesting choice. One way to win an argument is to have a better argument. The other way is to take away the other person's argument. I think that is exactly what this choice does. Takes away all the Demturd arguments for VP except foreign policy for the VP, which McCain has in spades (no pun intended, of course).
She's good looking. People vote for good looking people.
She's very conservative assuaging the conservative base.
She's a woman appealing to all those Hill supporters who wanted to simply vote for a woman.
She has gubinatorial managerial experience, traditionally where our chief exec's come from.
She seems to be very, very smart. Something al Biden only thinks he has.
She's basically taken the wind out of the Demturd's sails.
Won't it be fun to watch the upcoming al Biden v. Palin debate? al Biden's going to look like a thug and a bully - with his Hair Club For Men do.
And the way McCain and his strategists played the Demturd's Convention antics is textbook. In one fell (pun intended) swoop, the claimed 85,000 attendees fell off the front page. Nice.
This election is finally turning into something I can get interested in.

DH,
You're a good guy, but I have to disagree with you for all the above reasons (see elric and bob).
Posted by: JDAM | August 29, 2008 at 01:56 PM
Thank you all for your replies.
I don't disagree with any of the points that you've made, in fact, some of it I find to be heartening in light of what I see as a darker picture.
I am looking ahead of the election. Even if McCaine wins, which this VP may very well ensure, it is not a circumstance that gives me any comfort. None of these people, in my limited understanding of how the world turns, are qualified for the office. Just that some are worse.
It has turned into a who do you dislike more or think will do less damage race. It should be duly noted that has probably been said in every single race since Adams & Jefferson. I just don't think there has ever been so much outside influence on our choices. The media selected both obammy and McCain.
Perhaps the thing to do is to enjoy the moment so I shall by saying,
Fuck you paul m. I am a first rate troll.

DH,
Im not happy with Juan, dont get me wrong. He will be lucky to last 4 years and she does give me comfort since as far as I can tell, a true conservative. She is easy on the eyes which does help. :-)
Posted by: Elric66 | August 29, 2008 at 02:25 PM
She is a looker to be sure. Do you think we'll get the lezbo as well? Probably not, they hate real women as much as they do real men.
I hate to see what's about to happen to her. I hope she's up for what is about to be unleashed on her. The libs have no qualms about going after someone that they consider to be a traitor.
Posted by: Dark Helmet | August 29, 2008 at 02:36 PM
DH,
From what Ive read, she is tough and can take it. Im guessing shes been prepped for at least a week if not longer. We will see, but I do think it was a good pick. Not happy with Juan but am content with her. Id rather had a Hunter/Palin ticket myself.
Posted by: Elric66 | August 29, 2008 at 02:51 PM
I'm a Thompson/ Zel Miller guy myself ( don't care as to which order that billing goes I'd be thrilled to have either running the show)
We'll see what happens!
Posted by: Dark Helmet | August 29, 2008 at 03:02 PM
DH,
I, too, was a Fred Thompson guy (and they don't make Dems like Zell anymore). I was on the Thompson bandwagon before Thompson HAD a bandwagon. Here is what Fred had to say today about Mrs. Palin:
Fred on Sarah [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
(Nashville) - U.S. Senator Fred Thompson issued the following statement:
"I am absolutely delighted by this selection. Once again, John McCain has shown that he is an independent thinker who paints in bold strokes. Sarah Palin is a conservative reformer with executive experience who will bring a breath of fresh air to Washington. She will be an ideal running mate for John McCain, and will make a major contribution to our country's future."

DH,
I think Sarah Palin will be tough enough. She's a hunter and NRA member. She's taken on the Alaskan good old boy network and got herself elected Governor of a state with probably the lowest percentage of women to men there is. Her approval ratings are a politician's wet dream. With all this and her terrific speech, I'm confident she's strong enough.
I agree with you though. The way the Democrats with their willing acomplices in the MSM are going to go after her, she's going to need every ounce of strength and character she has. I just believe from what little I've seen that she'll be up to the task.
Posted by: Proud Infidel | August 29, 2008 at 03:45 PM
DH
I've been looking through some of the libturd blogs today and they are mercilessly attacking her. Making stuff up, as usual.
You don't get to be governor of a state without having the hide of an elephant. She's tough enough and unlike Pelosi and the rest of the females in Congress, she's actually RUN a government. NONE of the other three, Juan (as Elric calls him), bin Obama or al Biden have ever run a household let alone a government or a business.
Like I said, I like her because she takes away all the big arguments and gives libs some hope, as does McCain.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not swooning over McCain. But bin Obama would absolutely, positively destroy the United States forever, if he lives long enough to be president, if elected.
All this crap the Demturds spew about the bad economy (the best in 30 years), the war we're losing (as if), health care for everyone (unlimited demand on limited resources will collapse health care), gun ownership (bin Obama doesn't want any gun ownership) and on and on and on is just lies. Just like they're already spewing about Palin. Don't lose any sleep over this. She's tough enough.
Who was that congresswoman who cried? I forget. And Ed Muske too. Nah. She'll stick a shotgun up their collective asses and pull the trigger. She's cleaning up a thoroughly corrupt Alaskan government and all the Libturds are screaming bloody murder. She'll be fine.
Posted by: Bob | August 29, 2008 at 04:54 PM
It just occurred to me. Does Oprah vote for the black guy or the woman? Race or sex? I'm betting bin Obama because in the end, they're both Libturds. But it's an interesting notion anyway.

DH - "Thompson/ Zel Miller" Newt / Zel would have been my ticket. Newt Gingrich is the only true scholar of the history of democracy in politics today, and he is a visionary. flawed and unelectable, but a visionary.
As to 'fuck you' - come on, you can do better than THAT, surely ?
Posted by: Paul M | August 29, 2008 at 10:06 PM
Paul, it was " fuck you, I'm a first rate troll ".
More of a response statement as to my trolling ability than an attack on you.
Stick around, it does get better, I just don't blast away indiscriminately unless it's against izslime. ......
I like listening to Newt too. Some of these guys are at their best when they are not in the race. He is one of the good guys, that's why he's out.
We live to fight another day.

I think Palin is a good choice for two reasons: first, all the qualities of leadership which she already demonstrates as Governor and, second, what her presence might hold out for the future of politics for American youth. Not only do I want to see the Republicans win this year, I want to see the end of the Democratic Party. This Party has recalibrated itself as a movement, so completely at variance with American ideals and our history, that its continued existence is a very real threat. Palin is part of the younger political generation who do evince integrity, courage, practical skills and commitment to better government. If the Dems are soundly trounced this year, I hope to see a new party evolving from the wreckage and that will require young people, and not the young who are being indoctrinated by the Left. Palin can serve as a template. And that commitment of hers and her husband, to their Downs Syndrome baby, is a statement of belief in life triumphant, not death, and a future, however fraught and imperfect, and that is what is needed to inspire a generation being inculcated by the Dems and the Left with self-hatred and self-destruction, the very antithesis of youth and hope.
