House Revolt! Pelosi Turns off Lights, Kills Microphones, GOP Refuses to Leave…….

This fucking rules....

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the Democrats adjourned the House and turned off the lights and killed the microphones, but Republicans are still on the floor talking gas prices.

Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) and other GOP leaders opposed the motion to adjourn the House, arguing that Pelosi's refusal to schedule a vote allowing offshore drilling is hurting the American economy. They have refused to leave the floor after the adjournment motion passed at 11:23 a.m. and are busy bashing Pelosi and her fellow Democrats for leaving town for the August recess.

At one point, the lights went off in the House and the microphones were turned off in the chamber, meaning Republicans were talking in the dark. But as Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz..) was speaking, the lights went back on, and the microphones were turned on shortly afterward.

But C-SPAN, which has no control over the cameras in the chamber, has stopped broadcasting the House floor, meaning no one is witnessing this except the assembled Republicans, their aides, and one Democrat, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), who has now left.

Only about a half-dozen Republicans were on the floor when this began, but the crowd has grown to about 20 now, according to Patrick O'Connor.

"This is the people's House," Rep, Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.) said. "This is not Pelosi's politiburo."

Uodate 5 - Republicans are literally hugging each other on the House floor. Rep. Don Manzullo (R-Ill.), not normally known as an distinguished orator, just gave a rousing speech, accusing Democrats of stifling dissent. He referenced President John Quincy Adams, who returned as a House member after being defeated in his bid for re-election as president. Waving his arms and yelling, Manzullo brought the crowd (including a lot of staff shipped in by GOP leaders to fill up the place), and he left the floor to hugs from his colleagues. You don't see that up here every day.

Update 6 - Rep Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) just pretended to be a Democrat. He stood on the other side  of the chaber and listed all of the GOP bills that the Dems killed.

He then said "I am a Democrat and here is my energy plan" and he held up a picture of an old VW Bug with a sail attached to

Kudos to those staunch Republicans - this is like a Mr. Smith Goes to Washington moment.

"This is not Pelosi's politiburo."

Ouch! LOL

About fucking time someone grew a pair.

Where can I get a VW bug with a sail on it?

Damn, no videocameras to capture this? I hope cellphones are recording this and they upload it to YouTube.

"...arguing that Pelosi's refusal to schedule a vote allowing offshore drilling is hurting the American economy."

This is very short-sighted. The best way to help the American economy is to stimulate new energy industries based on renewable resources. Drilling our country's shores and natural beauty into an ecological disaster will knock off a few pennies at the pump for a year or two at best, and then the prices will go right back up again. Oil has peaked.

It's time for the country that gave the world the lightbulb, the car, the airplane, the television, and the Internet to take another innovative lead.

I just went to see if my Rep was on the floor, then I rememebered that I'm represented by former Black Panther Bobby Rush in the House (and Barak Obama in the Senate). Yeah. Chicago. Way to lead.

PK:

What planet are you from? You obviously haven't a clue on how American technology can provide drilling that would be safe for the environment.

Secondly, you're out of touch with the little guy. We are years away from making alternative energy sources available everywhere. In the meantime, we need to drill domestically until alternative energy becomes more affordable. I think you're unaware of those who are less fortunate than yourself - maybe you should work on gaining that kind of perspective instead of parroting libtard mantras.

I hope you're not an American voter. We don't need any more moonbattery at the polls.

ZIP? Did you get my email about the Pelosi impeachment petition????

BTW, be sure to inflate your tires, as Obama says, because that will save billions of gallons of oil from being drilled /sarc.

Atheling, the environment is one concern. Another is supply and demand: the supply of oil is dwindling while global demand is rising. Prices will keep going up whether we destroy Alaska or not. Furthermore, increasing domestic production will barely make a difference in our dependence of terrorist oil.

You make a lot of assumptions about me. Stick to the issues?

PK,

The supply isnt dwindling. These are the same people that said that we would run out by the 90's. Conservatives arent against VIABLE alternative fuel sources. What we want is to use our natural resources now as we look to something else in the future. Nuclear, oil, oil shale, natural gas, coal etc. I also suggest you look into the matter instead of listening to democrat talking points. We have enough of our own to completely get off foreign energy. We are willing to compromise, use our stuff now, look to a VIABLE alternative down the road. The Democrats lead by Nancy "Means well" Pelosi doesnt care how much its costs us, she is willing to wreck the economy and ruin you to "save the planet".

Comrade Nancy must be having tons of fun using her Fascist powers to prevent the media (free press?) from covering the Republicans who are just trying to do what the American people want them to...get our gas prices lower. Shame on Nancy and the Democrats!

"Conservatives arent against VIABLE alternative fuel sources. What we want is to use our natural resources now as we look to something else in the future."

Elric, I understand this. My concern is that this is nothing new. When is "the future"? The Arabs screwed us over in the 70s, so it's not like we haven't seen an energy crisis coming for several decades now. We can debate how much oil is really left, but the prices are going to keep rising no matter where we drill.

I'm sure we can agree that the sooner we develop alternative sources, the better off we'll all be. But is giving the oil industry another decade of record profits really in our best interests? Are the prices really going to come down? Or will this oil supply simply be 'more expensive' to drill or process?

"but the prices are going to keep rising no matter where we drill."

How do you know? You rather buy Arab oil as we search for this magical alternative fuel?

"But is giving the oil industry another decade of record profits really in our best interests."

Better than giving Arab record profit. I read that the Sauds make 500 million a day in oil. Where do you think the money goes? Yes I rather drill here as we search for something new. Your Dems dont want to use ANYTHING we have now. No nuclear, no coal, no oil, no oil shale, no new oil refineries. They want you as miserable as possible. Oh wait, they want to use corn as bi fuel. Yeah that makes sense. But hey I guess as long as oil companies dont make profits, who cares how miserable you are, right?

"Or will this oil supply simply be 'more expensive' to drill or process?"

I guess you dont know unless you give them the chance. But we know the Arabs will drive up the price now.

The Democrats are probably waiting to see if Obama gets elected...after which HE and THEY may vote to drill,,,just so they can go down in history as being the party that did it...but then again, they may just continue their stupid policies which will ultimately lead to the downfall of America, which is their secret plan..

"But the prices are going to keep rising no matter where we drill"

???

PK, you need to take a class in basic Economics. Next, you need to learn about the vast resources in ANWR, offshore, and in the 48 states. Honey, we got LOADS of oil.

Here's a simple economics concept you can ponder:

When demand exceeds supply, the prices go up. When supply exceeds demand, the prices go down.

"But is giving the oil industry another decade of record profits really in our best interests?"

Sure it is. Get off your politics of greed and resentment meme and THINK about it. It is in the best interests for oil corporations to make money because THEY are the ones who will find new innovation in energy resources. They know that oil won't last forever, so they can't keep all their eggs in one basket. They will use the capital to invest in and invent alternative fuel sources and means. Sheesh. What did they teach you in school?

Ha! This is so cool! It is about time the GOP Reps got down to some real fisticuffs. Pelosi is a damn fool liberal-collectivist without a lick of sense... she may think this was clever but it is lighting a fire in the opposition party. I was just about ready to callout for an overthrow of all the chicken-shits and greedy rascals in Congress. But if we get some revolutionary rabble who are ready to fight the idiot left and their whores in the "mainstream" media and the tyrants in the Big Business ruling-elite of Liberal Wealth who happily sell their children into slavery and global prostitution for money and power... then we just might have some real "Change". Next let's expose Obama and his Bolshevik, acid-head vermin comrades!!! Hahahahahah... this is a Ball!
While Queen Pelosi says "Let them ride bicycles" it's On with the Revolution…. Yehaaaa!

PK, no one wnats to see our resources depleted and our enviroment ruined.

The facts are that deep water offshore drilling has been going on now for over a decade in the North Sea. That combined with the improved developments in slant drilling, fracturing and shale oil reocery makes for a great deal less dependance. But oil is the global currency. When the time comes when we have to, 1 aircarft carrier will be able to maintain TOTAL security in the Gukf of Mexico where the 2nd largest supp;y of sweet crude has been located, on earth.

Wanting, wishing and mandateing will not bring about any new changes, only more cumbersome goverment involvement. I keep hearing all this bullshit about 'alternative energies'.

When they don't have to be tax funded subsidied and can stand on their own 2 feet, then they will be ready to compete. But until then, it's a waste of our money and a bigger waste of our time.

The next point to bring out is that this is chess not checkers. When we need the oil, we'll take it. What we don't need is every damn group attaching itself to the issue with it's own agenda trying to get more free money from the USA or to get into power.

If someone builds another mode of transportaton that works better and costs less, it's a done deal. But it's like the zen master said, " We'll see....".

DH,

Lets not forget the fact that someone will drill. Would PK prefer the Chinese or Cubans to drill? Thats what kills me. This tactic isnt to "save the planet". Its to control how Americans live their lives. If it was really about the environment, you would think these enviro wackos would want us to drill instead of the Chinese. Hell, Beijing on its best day has more smog than LA on its worst day ever.
