Afghanistan: Hundreds of Taliban Fighters Killed or Wounded in Major Battle Around Kandahar….
Excellent.....
Kabul, 19 June (AKI) - Hundreds of Taliban fighters have been killed or wounded after being driven from all the villages around Afghanistan's southern city of Kandahar, the provincial governor has said.
"The Taliban have been cleared totally [by Afghan and NATO forces] from Arghandab district," Assadullah Khalid said on Thursday.
According to the Arab network, Al Jazeera, about 800 Afghan government troops, backed by hundreds of mainly Canadian soldiers, fought members of the Taliban who seized seven villages in the Arghandab district three days ago.
Assadullah Khalid said that Taliban fighters had fled the Arghandab district, after suffering heavy casualties during the conflict.
The Afghan Defence Ministry had estimated around 300 to 400 militant fighters were operating in the Arghandab district and had taken at least eight villages.

Good riddance. It's nice to know that every now and then the trash is indeed being taken out.
