Fake. Here's why.

1- First off, too many cuts, and too many camera angles. This smacks of a planned hoax.

2- Note at :53 the other surfers just chillin' while Jaws swims by. I don't think so.

3- Note at :55 the wake that is breaking AHEAD of the shark. One word: BOAT.

4- Note at :58, and in other areas, the point of view attempts to hide the fact that a wake is ahead of the "shark". A little creative camera positioning to further the illusion.

You've convinced me. BTW, did you work on the Zapruder film? ;-)

Fake.

Not just on the film-making techniques, but on shark behaviour as well.

1. Great Whites don't like red meat. They much prefer very oily/blubbery meat.
2. A Shark would spit out the meat as soon as it realised it was attached to a line
3. Sharks don't swim in nice straight lines
4. If it was actually hooked the shark would attempt to free itself by shaking its head and swimming down into deep water. It wouldn't swim lazily along at low speed parallel to a shallow beach.
5. Sharks have tail fins as well as dorsal fins.
