Australia: Muslim Leaders on the Wahhabi Payroll......

SIX Australian-based Muslim clerics who are leaders of the Islamic community in the country are on the payroll of the Saudi Government, receiving allowances of up to $2000 a month.

The Australian can reveal for the first time the identity of the clerics - some paid through the Saudi embassy in Canberra, others directly from Riyadh's Dawah (preaching) Office - who receive between 3500 and 7000 Saudi riyal ($1975) a month.

The payments to the six - who include former Howard government adviser Amin Hady and Melbourne Somali imam Isse Musse - are part of Saudi Arabia's multi-billion-dollar campaign to transform push its hardline image in the West.

However, Sheik Hady told The Australian there were as many as 14 others in the country being paid by the Saudis.

Netherlands: Muslims Complain About Construction Workers Wearing Shorts.....

Who wears short, shorts? We wear short, shorts......deal with it......

The heads of a contractor firm working on a large renovation project in Almere were asked last week if the construction workers could change their short pants into something with longer legs. The Muslim neighbors had complained about the workers wearing such bare clothing.

In order not to succumb in the tropical heat of the past weeks, the men had exchanged their work overalls for short pants and a t-shirt. Construction workers Robin Willemsen says that they all walk around with short pants. Together with his colleagues he's renovating the outside of 750 residences in Almere.

Willemsen says that the contractor came to tell them that Muslim neighbors had complained that their clothing were too bare and too short. The comment was duly noted, but Willemsen says that they don't intend to dress in overalls in such sweltering heat.

The complaints were new for Richard Hekert of construction firm Mateboer from Kampen, and he says there were agreements about correct clothing, and that includes short pants and t-shirts too, but if residents think it's a serious nuisance, they'll see how they can solve it.

German Honor Killing: Brother Stabs 16 Year-Old Sister 20 Times....

It's a "cultural" thing.......

German police are seeking the brother of a 16-year-old Hamburg girl of Afghan descent who died early on Friday morning of multiple stab wounds.

The girl died about an hour later despite the efforts of emergency medical personnel to revive her, Hamburg police spokesman Andreas Schöpflin told The Local. Witnesses did not see anyone running away, he said.

Police have not ruled out the possibility that the stabbing could have been an honour killing, Schöpflin said. Homicide investigators and the district attorney's office in Hamburg are seeking the girl's 23-year-old brother.

"I cannot exclude the possibility of an honour killing, but I cannot confirm it either," Schöpflin said.

Both siblings are German citizens who immigrated from Afghanistan. Schöpflin could not say how long they had been in the country.

Schöpflin also declined to confirm a report from German newspaper Bild on Friday that the girl had been stabbed 20 times.

Danish Embassies in Islamic Countries Prepare for Backlash Over Hijab Ban....

Backlash from the headscarf debate has got Danish embassies to prepare for reactions much like those during the Mohammed cartoon affair.

Danish ambassadors are being briefed by the Foreign Ministry to handle possible reactions due to Wednesday's government headscarf ban for judges, especially in the Middle East, reports public broadcaster DR.

'In our experience, what often happens is that this type of incident creates misunderstanding throughout the world,' said Klavs Holm, head of the ministry's office for diplomacy.

A possible misinterpretation could be that the government wanted to exclude Muslims from being judges. In this case, it would be vital to show that the government wanted to enforce a ban on all religious symbols, including the Christian cross, with regards to judges.

Harkin: McCain's Military Background Makes him Dangerous.....

Washington, D.C. — Republican presidential candidate John McCain's family background as the son and grandson of admirals has given him a worldview shaped by the military, "and he has a hard time thinking beyond that," Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Ia., said Friday.

"I think he's trapped in that," Harkin said in a conference call with Iowa reporters. "Everything is looked at from his life experiences, from always having been in the military, and I think that can be pretty dangerous."

Harkin said that "it's one thing to have been drafted and served, but another thing when you come from generations of military people and that's just how you're steeped, how you've learned, how you've grown up."

A McCain spokesman said Harkin's remarks were offensive and showed that Democrats are out of touch with Americans' values.

The Netherlands should abolish the overseas “integration test” that discriminatorily targets only migrants of certain nationalities trying to join their families, while citizens from other, “western” countries are exempt, Human Rights Watch said in a briefing paper released today. People of Moroccan and Turkish origin – two of the three largest “non-western” migrant communities in the Netherlands – have been especially affected. 

“The overseas integration test is discriminatory because it explicitly applies only to relatives from predominantly ‘non-western countries,’” said Holly Cartner, Europe and Central Asia director at Human Rights Watch. “These measures keep families apart and appear to be aimed at keeping certain kinds of people out of the Netherlands.” 

Under this integration test, applicants must demonstrate basic knowledge of the Dutch language and basic concepts of Dutch society before they enter the Netherlands. The test is administered in Dutch by telephone to the applicant sitting at a computer at the Dutch embassy or consulate in the applicant’s home country.

Iraq: US Sniper Used Koran for Target Practice....

I have no objection to shooting up a Koran, hell I'd even encourage it. But this situation is an exception, the sniper's fellow soldiers rely on Sunnis to fight al-Qaeda, and this most definitely won't help a relationship that helps keep our soldiers alive....

A soldier used the Quran -- Islam's holy book -- for target practice, forcing the chief U.S. commander in Baghdad to issue a formal apology on Saturday.

Maj. Gen. Jeffery Hammond, commander of U.S. forces in Baghdad, apologized to leaders in Radhwaniya, in the western outskirts of Baghdad, for the staff sergeant who was a sniper section leader assigned to the headquarters of the 64th Armored Regiment. He also read a letter of apology by the shooter.

It was the first time the incident -- which tested the relationship between U.S.-backed Sunni militiamen and the military -- was made public since it was discovered May 11.

"I come before you here seeking your forgiveness," Hammond said to tribal leaders and others at the apology ceremony. "In the most humble manner I look in your eyes today and I say please forgive me and my soldiers."

Another military official kissed a Quran and presented is as "a humble gift" to the tribal leaders. (going a little overboard? I'd say so -ed.)

Obama Stifled Bill That Outlawed Killing Babies Aborted Alive....

No matter how much you hate McCain, would you sit out the election allowing Obama, who openly supports murdering babies, to become the next president?.....

In February 2004, U.S. Senate candidate Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, sent a fund-raising letter with the "alarming news" that "right-wing politicians" had passed a law stopping doctors from stabbing half-born babies in the neck with scissors, suctioning out their brains and crushing their skulls.

Michelle called partial-birth abortion "a legitimate medical procedure," and wouldn't supporters please pay $150 to attend a luncheon for her husband, who would fight against "cynical ploy[s]" to stop it?

But that's not why Obama's opponent Alan Keyes said Jesus Christ wouldn't vote for him.

Obama recalled Keyes' statement in a recent USA Today opinion piece but omitted his reasoning.

I know his reasoning, because I was there. As a nurse at an Illinois hospital in 1999, I discovered babies were being aborted alive and shelved to die in soiled utility rooms. I discovered infanticide.

Legislation was presented on the federal level and in various states called the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. It stated all live-born babies were guaranteed the same constitutional right to equal protection, whether or not they were wanted.

BAIPA sailed through the U.S. Senate by unanimous vote. Even Sens. Clinton, Kennedy and Kerry agreed a mother's right to "choose" stopped at her baby's delivery.

The bill also passed overwhelmingly in the House. NARAL went neutral on it. Abortion enthusiasts publicly agreed that fighting BAIPA would appear extreme. President Bush signed BAIPA into law in 2002.

But in Illinois, the state version of BAIPA repeatedly failed, thanks in large part to then-state Sen. Barack Obama. It only passed in 2005, after Obama left.

Egypt's state-owned press opened fire Saturday on U.S. President George W. Bush as he arrived for talks with regional leaders at the conclusion of a five-day Mideast tour.

The newspapers, whose management are all appointed by the government, criticized Mr. Bush's speech Thursday in front of the Israeli Knesset for being overly supportive of the Israelis and not mentioning the Palestinians' plight.

"The Torah-inspired speech of Bush raised question marks over the credibility of the U.S. role in the Middle East," wrote Mursi Atallah, the publisher of Al-Ahram, the flagship daily of the state-owned press. "Bush aims to do nothing but appeasing Israel."

In his speech marking the 60th anniversary of Israel's founding, Mr. Bush reiterated the U.S.'s close ties to its regional ally, and dismissed the notion that the Jewish state should have to negotiate with its armed adversaries.

A front page editorial in Al-Gomhouria, another Egyptian state-owned daily, described Mr. Bush as "a failed president who delivers nothing but a lousy speech."

Akhbar Al-Youm also on Saturday published a picture of Mr. Bush hugging Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and captioned it "lovers."

Pelosi Makes Surprise Baghdad Visit: Shockingly, Iraqis Not Happy to See Her....

Baghdad, May 17, (VOI) - Iraq’s Parliament Speaker al-Mashhadani met on Saturday his U.S. counterpart Nancy Pelosi currently visiting Iraq, expressing his concern over a non-binding congressional resolution to withdraw the U.S. troops from Iraq by the end of 2009.

“Despite the improved capabilities of the Iraqi forces to carry out military operation in places such as Basra and Mosul, they are not fully capable to preserve the people of Iraq and its riches,” Mashhadani told reporters after meeting Pelosi in Baghdad.

“I reminded her of the moral duty of the U.S. toward Iraq, to maintain the democracy it initiated in the country. If security was absent, democracy would turn into no more than ink on paper,” Mashhadani added.

Iraqi PM Spends Several Days in Mosul Personally Overseeing Major Operation Against al-Qaeda....

Stories like this don't jump out at you, but they are crucial to us winning in Iraq so our boys can come home. Nouri al-Maliki finally taking charge of his military is extremely encouraging. Maybe he finally noticed those two things dangling between his legs?....

Iraq's prime minister returned to the nation's capital Saturday after spending several days in Mosul overseeing a military operation against militants currently under way there. VOA's Suzanne Presto reports from the northern city of Irbil.

Before he departed Mosul, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki opened a new military operation command post in the northern city. He said this new facility, complete with high-tech equipment, would assist the Iraqi army with its campaign in Mosul. He said it would also benefit military commanders throughout the country.

The new facility in Ninawa gives commanders there the ability to teleconference with other operation posts in the nation, providing a better overview of military campaigns.

An Interior Ministry spokesman says more than 1,000 wanted militants have been captured in Mosul since May 10. He said the military had security orders to arrest each of those detainees in the urban al-Qaida in Iraq stronghold.

In addition, the spokesman says troops have confiscated 600 kilograms of high explosives, nearly 80 roadside bombs and more than 45 rockets. They also took control of almost 200 simple and medium weapons. It is not clear if that number includes small arms that militants may have turned over in return for amnesty, as promised by the prime minister.

Minister Backs Opening Scotland's First State Funded Madrassa....

SCOTLAND'S first state-funded Islamic school could get the go-ahead within months after First Minister Alex Salmond declared he was "sympathetic" towards the controversial move.

Campaigners are planning to submit a detailed proposal for the faith school to Glasgow City Council within two months and officials last night confirmed they would consult on the proposal.

But former Scottish education minister Sam Galbraith condemned the move as a "retrograde step", arguing that it would be bad for the Muslim community by hindering integration.

A Very Special Evening With Sheikh Khalid Yasin.....

Last night, WZ reader OMVI glued on his fake beard, grabbed three girls and disguised them as penguins for use as his prop wives, after which he headed down to Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio to hear the esteemed Islamist douchebag Sheikh Khalid Yasin give a "lecture." He gave a detailed report in the comments section but this is definitely post worthy. Here are a few highlights:

...Yasin called President Bush a fascist several times during the lecture in the context of the president's foreign and domestic policies: muslim repression. (cough, cough) Oddly, Iraq and Afghanistan were never mentioned by name.

...Yasin called islam an ideology superior to the ideologies of Christianity and Judaism.

...Yasin says muslims throughout the world are repressed. The Jews invaded Jerusalem and the followers of Jesus invaded Africa.

...At the end of Yasin's lecture, by way of closing ceremonies a "christian couple" formally converted to islam. The place was rockin' with shouts of Allan Snackbar. There was another shout out to Jesus and Mary by Yasin who performed the ceremony and one more collection (fund raiser) for the new muslim couple.(one down and three more to go for the young new male muslim...whatever...)

...I found this to be an oddity: the crowd/audience didn't clap or applaud. Instead they'd shout out Allan Snackbar when they really liked what Yasin was saying. There was applause just one time: Yasin couldn't get his "power point" presentation to work so a computer geek came on stage to get it to work. Yasin asked the crowd to give him a round of applause and they did.

Afghan Journalist's Death Sentence for Insulting Islam Getting Closer....

Sayed Parwez Kambakhsh's last appeal is tomorrow, if he loses he'll be killed shortly thereafter. America's response to this insanity, the State Department has, "expressed concern." Pathetic.....

PUL-E CHARKHI, Afghanistan: The prison uniform Sayed Parwez Kambakhsh wears is emblazoned with crudely painted black scales of justice, but the young journalist insists on the eve of his appeal that he has yet to see justice done.

A court found Kambakhsh, 24, guilty on Jan. 22 of distributing an article that questioned the Muslim practice of polygamy. It handed him the maximum sentence on the charge of insulting Islam — death.

The case highlights the continued virulence of conservative religious attitudes in post-Taliban Afghanistan as well as the shortcomings of its rudimentary justice system.

"I didn't write this article. I didn't print it. I didn't distribute it. I reject these accusations," Kambakhsh said. "I am a scapegoat in some political game."

....A U.S. State Department spokesman expressed concern that Kambakhsh was sentenced to death for "basically practicing his profession."

Abdul Malik Kamawi, a spokesman for the Supreme Court, said Kambakhsh's case will go before an appeals court in the capital on Sunday.

Kuala Lumpur: A Malaysian with three wives and 18 children has asked an Islamic court to let him marry again with the blessing of all his spouses.

Mohamed Nor Awang, aged 51, filed a petition to take another wife in the Shariah High Court in eastern Terengganu state, a court employee said on Friday.

His three wives told the court on Thursday they supported Mohamed Nor's decision, the court worker said on condition of anonymity, citing protocol.

"We all could live blissfully under one roof," his third wife, 40-year-old Noraini Daud, was reported as saying by The Star.

Asked a few minutes later for a more official explanation, Conyers told us that Rove has a week to appear before his committee. If he doesn’t, said Conyers, “We’ll do what any self-respecting committee would do. We’d hold him in contempt. Either that or go and have him arrested.”

Conyers said the committee wants Rove to testify about his role in the imprisonment of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman, among other things.

“We want him for so many things, it’s hard to keep track,” Conyers said

The bomber detonated explosives strapped to her body in the office of the Sons of Iraq, a group of mostly Sunni former insurgents who switched sides and are now funded by the Americans, Iraqi police Captain Kassa al-Zaidi said.

UN Human Rights Council to Investigate Racism in Saudi Arabia Iran Pakistan America......

GENEVA (Reuters) - A special U.N. human rights investigator will visit the United States this month to probe racism, an issue that has forced its way into the race to secure the Democratic Party's presidential nomination.

The United Nations said Doudou Diene would meet federal and local officials, as well as lawmakers and judicial authorities during the May 19-June 6 visit.

"The special rapporteur will...gather first-hand information on issues related to racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance," a U.N. statement said on Friday.

However, the United Nations has almost no clout when it comes to U.S. domestic affairs and is widely perceived by many as interfering. The United States is not among the 47 member states of the Geneva-based forum, but has observer status.

In a report last year he said Islamophobia had grown worldwide since the September 11 2001 attacks on the United States, carried out by al-Qaeda militants.

Bush: "We are not at war With the Peaceful Religion of Islam"....

Do you think Bush actually believes this, or is he just being politically correct?.....

President Bush yesterday told students in Israel he hasn't done enough to dispel the idea that the United States is at war with Islam, but also blamed the "poisonous" state-run TV stations in the Middle East for mischaracterizing him.

During an extended conversation with about 12 college and high school students under an olive tree in Jerusalem, the issue of diplomacy arose, and Mr. Bush launched into a defense of his attitude toward Muslims.

"Somebody said to me, 'Well, how come you dislike Muslims?'" Mr. Bush said. "I don't."

But then a young Palestinian Christian woman, Henriette Charcar, spoke up.

"I think it comes out that you don't like Muslims because in most of your speeches you do tend to relate extremism to Muslims," said Miss Charcar, who attends the Tabitha school in Jaffa.

Mr. Bush responded: "Actually what I say is you're not a religious person if you're a murderer. But you're right. I've got to do a better job of making it clear when I talk about Islam, I talk about a peaceful religion, which I talk about a lot."

The president often says that Muslims and Christians pray to the same god, which has angered some in the president's most loyal constituency of evangelical Christians.
