Top Iranian Cleric: Unveiled Women "Transform Men Into Beasts"...

Mashad, 10 April (AKI) - A top Shia cleric in Iran has said that unveiled women are a serious danger to Iranian society as they cause men to be "transformed into beasts".

"Women without the veil are a danger that the authorities underestimate," said Hojatolislam Seyyed Ahmad Elmalhoda, a powerful cleric who leads the Friday prayers in Mashad, a site considered sacred for Shia Muslims as it houses the shrine of Imam Reza.

"This situation is very serious in that if men see these bad women, they will turn into beasts, and then the whole of society will have to pay the consequences."

According to the Shia cleric, women who do not respect conservative Islamic dress rules are "sources of all that is bad in society."

I can assure you the men over here have NO control whatsoever - and their lack of self control starts at a very, very young age. If you are a woman who doesn't cover their head/hair - you can expect a LOT of looks - and because blonde hair here isn't common I probably get more than my share. You just know they are thinking, "I bet she's easy!" Never once in the states did I feel like I was as threatened by wearing tight jeans or low cut shirts - but here, just letting my hair show I wouldn't walk down the main street in Khobar by myself.

Slightly OT, but rather interesting all the attention the media is giving the polygamist sect in Texas [http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24014376&GT1=43001] for men marrying underage girls and having more than one wife. Never a word though about muzzies in the States who commit these practices - and don't think for a minute with all of them that are there now that this isn't happening. Oh, wait. Forgot I have blinders on...

...So, am I to understand that the men in these countries who DO have veiled women- that is, men who blow up schools and markets, who douse children with gas and torch them, who abuse women in spite of their coverings, who hang homosexuals, cut off the hands of thieves, who protest and draw blood over cartoons of their pedophile prophet, who kill nuns when the Catholic church dares to call them violent, who keep their cultures in the dark ages due to self-oppression and endless tribal factions, but thrust all of their sufferings on the Jews and all Jew-lovers- you mean to tell me that these men are NOT beasts??!!!!

Curious, isn't it? "An Unveiled Woman turns men into beasts." It's the Men who have an issue, but it's the women who pay the price, must cover themselves, be denied a thousand and one things. Basically it all boils down to "we have no self control, so it's all YOUR fault."
