Muslims are going to go ape-shit over this. Long live Pope Benedict!.....
The Pope will pray for the redemption of Islamic terrorists when he visits the site of the September 11 attacks in New York next week.
The pontiff will call for terrorists to convert to Christianity, saying: "Turn to Your way of love those whose hearts and minds are consumed with hatred.
"God of understanding, overwhelmed by the magnitude of this tragedy, we seek your light and guidance".
The prayer is likely to further incense the Muslim world, which has already attacked the Pope for publicly converting Magdi Allam, a journalist and one of Italy's most high-profile Muslims, at Easter.Osama bin Laden accused the Pope of trying to provoke "a new crusade" against Islam.
Aref Ali Nayed, a leading scholar and proponent of peaceful relations between the Roman Catholic Church and Islam, said that there were "genuine questions about the motives, intentions and plans of some of the Pope's advisers on Islam".
He said that religious conversion should not be "made into a triumphalist tool for scoring points".
The Pope will also ask for "eternal light and peace to all who died" in the tragedy. His prayer will remember "the heroic first-responders: our firefighters, police officers, emergency service workers… along with all the innocent men and women who were victims of this tragedy".

He is the only non-dhimmi leader in the Western world! And you know why? He's not fettered by political correctness.
I love this man!!!

Viva la Popa!!

This Pope isnt quite tough enough but a lot better than the last one.

I just hope priests don't get murdered by Islamic trash in retribution. It doesn't get reported by the MSM, but priests and ministers from different Christian denominations and their flocks suffer at the hands of Muslim cowards in revenge for what the Pope has said in the past.
It's a wonderful thing he is doing, but hearing about true men of peace being murdered by the scum of the Religion of Peace is hard to take.

God bless our wonderful pope!

{{{{Aref Ali Nayed, a leading scholar and proponent of peaceful relations between the Roman Catholic Church and Islam, said that there were "genuine questions about the motives, intentions and plans of some of the Pope's advisers on Islam"}}}}
Fucking mass murderer has yet to explain why there are over 100 violent verses calling for the subjugation and death of non muslims . All muslims are terrorists and should have Mecca and Medina nuked as a warning: fall in line. If not, nuke the lot.
Earth can do with the space left by these expendables.
Useless diaperheads. Emperor Manuel ii Paleologus on the subject of Christianity and Islam still holds true today: “Show me just what Mohammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."
Filthy muslim scums, polluting the civilised nations with their evil. What do muslims contribute to society or host country other than rape, murder, steal, lie, terrorise natives and be parasites?

Maybe Oriana Fallaci had a good reason to place her trust for the world's free future on Pope Benedict.
{^_^}

I'm no Catholic, and can quibble with Catholocism, but the Pope is far more in tune with, and willing to stand up to the main issue that faces us than the 'churchianity' leaders like Rick Warren.

The Pope didn't convert Magdi Allam, Magdi Allam converted Magdi Allam. The Pope just made it official. The threat to Islam is free people making their own choices. That's what they can't have. That's why they have the death penalty for apostates, ie people who leave Islam. No one leaves the Mafia and no one leaves Islam.

Jabba,
So true. No one forced him to convert. I guess Islam doesnt understand the concept of free will

Tutt:
"No one leaves the Mafia and no one leaves Islam."
This is an offensive comparison. The Mafia has better food, better ethics, a healthier attitude towards religion, and is considerably less misogynistic. I think you owe them an apology.

Good news. Maybe he can convert all the liberals here in New York next.

Jane,
He has better luck converting jihadists

Elric:
"Isn't quite tough enough"???
What do you want? John Wayne? For crying out loud, why don't you do a little deeper thinking before you open your mouth?
The man is a scholar, intellectual and a Christian, not a soldier. At least he has the courage to address the problems with Islam and the increasingly godless West. His writings and addresses on the dangers of moral relativism, atheism, and nihilism are TRUTH.
Just because it's couched in terms that you probably can't comprehend doesn't mean it's not "strong" enough. People like you probably only understand force, much like our Muslim "friends", who don't use reason very often.

Elric, I have to agree with Atheling on this one.
Pope Benedict isn't a Mohammed, ready to lead an army into battle. Pope's represent peace on Earth, that's what makes us different from Muslims.
You know I respect you, but I can't agree with you on this one.
Also:
Pope John Paul II was instrumental is defeating communism, so I'm not sure what was wrong with him.

JDAM:
Elric is bigoted against Catholicism. It's the last respectable bigotry in America.
Posted by: atheling | April 13, 2008 at 10:17 PM
Atheling,
Pope Benedict has made me proud as hell to be Catholic. I know Zip feels this way as well (he's also Catholic). I guess the way Benedict speaks isn't enough for some people, I surely don't feel that way. He delivers a message of peace (as a man of God should) but also has the balls to criticize Islam, but it's not going to sound like Geert Wilders.
Posted by: JDAM | April 13, 2008 at 10:40 PM
JDAM:
Ditto. Pope Benedict is exactly the man we need in these times. God saw to that.
John Paull II helped bring down communism, and Benedict XVI recognizes the need to fight against the onslaught of Islamofascism.
He is a man of reason and intellect. The fact that he is the only world leader who has spoken fearlessly against the dangers of this age demonstrates his intellectual honesty and courage.
And intellectual honesty can be "tougher" than just blustering.

I read Benedikt's excellent Regensburg Address which the Western media willfully and stupidly chose to present to the public as an attack against Islam. It was, but not in the manner in which msm misconceived it. The basic point of the Address was to demonstrate the connection between faith, science and reason, all of which are a part of Christianity and our civilization, which owes as much to Eastern Christianity as it does to the Western form. This, the role of reason, is actually the heart of the war between Islam and the world. Free will, the source of reason, is the core of man's loving relationship with the True God. In Islam, only 'allah', the pagan moon god, is permitted a 'free will' which is dilatory, willful and inexplicable and, therefore, the world this pagan deity has brought into being must also, perforce, be undeterminable, unknowable and uncontrollable. This is partly why Islam has never made any true contributions to science or medicine without reliance upon earlier, non-islamic, sources. Man, in Islam, is actually called in the Koran the "slave of Allah." It is from this false concept of 'free will' that Islam ---- its perverted ideology, its failure as a system of life, society and government, and as a source of evil and violence, comes. That is why Benedikt used the Byzantine Emperor's quote about Muhammad's "faith" as the source of "inhumane" (NOT "inhuman") activity.

Atheling,
Bigot against Catholics? You find one anti-Catholic statement I have made. I suggest you think hard what you say before hurling insults and accusations without proof.

JDAM,
Communism isnt defeated. Yes the Soviet Union fell but communism is far from defeated. The 2 Democrat nominees are commie lite and Western Europe is commie lite and the EU will soon be the EUSSR.
Posted by: Elric66 | April 14, 2008 at 07:29 AM
Elric, Leave some room for the hand of Providence in the affairs of the world. We are not in a 'post-Christian' world, whatever the doom-sayers, atheists or others may say. If you prefer not to regard what is happening now from a religious vantage point, then take some succour from European history: Poitiers, Lepanto, Spain, Malta, Sicily right on through to the Gates of Vienna. Americans demean Europeans as people unwiling to fight for faith and freedom, but few Americans even know of these decisive battles. Had those Europeans not fought, and won, our country and its ideals might never have come into being. I agree entirely with you about the totalitarianism of the EU but, based on past events, "that, too, shall pass away."

"The 2 Democrat nominees are commie lite and Western Europe is commie lite and the EU will soon be the EUSSR"
LOL, good point....

Elric:
You and I have gone around this before at Jihad Watch. I have plenty of proof of your bigotry.
You must be short on memory.

BTW, I look forward to the Pope's address to the UN this week, when he's in the US.

merrimac:
I hope you're right. However, the fact that less than 40% of Europeans even believe in God and have succumbed to Marxism Lite, and perhaps even now Sharia Lite, makes me very skeptical that they will be able to pull out of this without a return to the faith which galvanized them during the Crusades.
Go to the Brussels Journal and read some of the Euros' comments there. They profess to be "conservatives", but most are white supremacists who hate Jews, Christians, blacks and Americans. Believe me, if Europe pulls out of this, it will be ugly and violent.
Posted by: atheling | April 14, 2008 at 11:42 AM
Waiting for the proof.
Now if you want to use anti Islamic comments as bigotry, well yes than you can call me a bigot. As for anticatholic, lets see it.
