Dutch Muslims React to Fitna: That was Nothing.....

I agree, it was pretty weak. Then again, we've seen this stuff a thousand times before.  Still though, it would be refreshing to hear Muslims denounce what they saw in the film....

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands — Is this all? That has been the general reaction to "Fitna,' the anti-Koran film by Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders.

It took a bit of time before the movie, released on the Internet Thursday, picked up attention. An hour after its release about 75,000 people had watched the movie, but soon afterward the online traffic numbers jumped to over 700,000 for the Dutch version and 200,000 for the English version.

After heated debate preceding the release of the film, first reactions seem to be muted.

Brahim Bourzak, a spokesperson for the National Moroccan Representation, said he was very relieved after he saw the movie.

The worries for riots that he shared with the Dutch society have diminished, he said. According to Bourzik the efforts from the Dutch government have added to this relief.

He said Wilders must have thought hard about the movie and that it is within the boundaries of the law.

I am perplexed that people are asking "that's it"? This incident has dramatically increased public awareness about fundamentalist Islam. Even if the film isn't much different from many that we bloggers have seen, it's the first one to get significant MSM attention. I promise you that U.S. awareness has dramatically increased as a result. It may not be obvious now, but wait. Yesterday's poll of 84% of Americans not trusting Muslims will go up.

It was good, but could have been stronger. You really need to come out and hit those people over the heads.

You have to say that - literally that - and hammer that point home repeatedly in as blunt a manner as possible. Anything else to them is blase. They aren't intellectual or civilized enough to understand the (relatively) polished approach the film takes.

That Wilders even had to worry about being "within the boundaries of the law" when making a movie in the supposedly free Netherlands just goes to show how unfree Europe really is in comparison with the United States.

Here in the netherlands, everybody is thinking that the movie hasn't shown anything new.
So we all know that some muslims are wacked by terrorising the world. but that doesn't mean all the muslims are terrorists.

And the fact that he made the movie "within the boundaries of the law" makes me wonder what the boundaries are. So far as i know the internet is doesn't belong to anyone let alone a country.
