A British teacher is facing 40 lashes from police in Sudan where she has been accused of insulting Islam after naming a Teddy bear Mohamed.

She had been working at one of the city's exclusive British schools for the past three months since giving up her job in Liverpool.

Police arrived at the old-fashioned brick and stone buildings of the Unity High School on Sunday to arrest Miss Gibbons after a complaint from parents that she had named the bear after Islam's most holy prophet Mohamed.

An angry mob shouted death threats as she was taken away.

The Teddy bear had been brought to school by one of Miss Gibbon's six and seven-year-old pupils as part of a project

They were asked to take the bear home each weekend and keep a diary of his activities.

The class voted on a name and settled on Mohamed - also the name of one of the most popular pupils.

"No parents or teachers complained because they knew she had no bad intentions," said Mr Boulos.

He added that the problem only came to light last week after parents complained to the ministry of education.

Miss Gibbons faces six months in prison, a fine or 40 lashes if convicted of insulting the Prophet Mohamed.

I'm sorry, but we have to blame MSM and the politically correct British government for this. This poor woman was trying to be accommodating to the Muslim children because she felt that in her heart this was right per the government and media. Had they been telling her the truth - that Islam can be harsh, tyrannical, ruthless, and irrational - maybe she wouldn't have been so very naive.

The naming of the teddy bear was supposed to be to honour it with the kids' favourite choice; it wasn't some insult - the toy was not an effigy. Do they think that their god and their prophet is so insecure that he can't handle a teddy being called Mohammed?

Muslims really need to lighten up. We had some Jewish friends over to dinner the other evening. They don't eat pork (though we do), so just before we served up their 'real' meal, we presented them with some gammon. Of course, they roared with laughter, and what's more they did not bring a lawsuit against us, or call for jihad.

Where I work, we have quite a number of Muslims and Hindus. At break-times both groups tend to get together with their own, which is fine. The difference between the groups, however, is SO marked. You will almost always hear happy conversation and raucous laughter from the Hindus, but from the Muslims you won't even see a smile. There seems to be no 'joie de vivre'. They don't seem to realise that life's for living and enjoying.

To be fair to the Muslims, if I was a Muslims I would be miserable too. Islam isnt a religion about enjoying life. Why do you think their afterlife is such a bordello? It has to give Muslims something to look forward to after having such a miserable life.
