Little Hitler paying Zero back for his support during the pro-democracy protests....
TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said he wants to engage President Obama in "negotiations" before international media, a semi-official Iranian news outlet reported on Saturday.
Speaking at a meeting of medical school deans, Ahmadinejad said Iran "will soon pursue a new round of diplomatic activity" amid a new position of strength for the Iranian government, the Iranian Student News Agency quotes him as saying.
"I will go to the United Nations and will invite Obama to negotiations," Ahmadinejad said, adding that such talks would be "in front of the international media, not a sit-down behind closed doors in order to talk about matters."
The Obama administration has sought dialogue with Iran but also criticized the government for its handling of unrest after disputed presidential elections.

US soldiers in eastern Afghanistan beat back a complex attack on a combat outpost by the Haqqani Network in Eastern Afghanistan.
The attack began as Haqqani Network fighters launched rockets and mortars at a small US base in the Zarok district in Paktika province. As the rockets and mortars were fired, a suicide bomber attempted to ram a truck packed with explosives into the combat outpost, but soldiers shot and killed the driver before he could penetrate the base. The attackers also fired assault rifles and machine guns during the assault.
Reports indicate that two US soldiers were killed during the attack. Quqnoos claimed the soldiers were killed when the suicide bomber detonated at the main gate. Other reports indicated the soldiers were killed during the mortar attack. The US military stated that two soldiers were killed during an IED attack, but it is unclear if they were killed during the attack on the base.
The US Army counterattacked with "with counter fire, close air support and attack helicopters," according to a press release. Ten Haqqani Network fighters were killed and one was detained, the US military said. The Afghan Interior Ministry put the number of terrorists killed at 22, while some reports put the number killed at more than 30.
The large number of enemy fighters killed during the counterattack indicates that an assault team was prepared to enter the combat outpost if the suicide bomber created a breach in the wall.
Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Taliban in eastern Afghanistan, took credit for the attack. Mujahid claimed that more than 8,000 kg of explosives were used in the attack.
In the past, the Taliban, al Qaeda, and allied terror groups have conducted numerous attacks of this nature in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, and Yemen.
The rocket attack is designed to cause the defending troops to take cover. The suicide bomber, or in many cases, bombers, is assigned to create a breach in the outer wall so that a backup suicide bomber or an assault team can follow through to overrun the base. The Taliban have had some success in these attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and used this method to penetrate the outer gate of the US embassy in Sanaa, Yemen.

In related news, the UN peacekeepers have done a kick ass job keeping Hezbollah from rearming (at least that's what they claim, no really, they did)....
Calm on the Lebanese and Palestinian borders does not necessarily involve good news for Israel, a report published by the Israeli daily Maariv said on Friday.
The report addresses the growing capacity of Hezbollah in Lebanon, three years after the 2006 war.
The journal emphasized that Hezbollah is tremendously magnifying its military capacities and compiling new combative techniques in addition to a remarkable increase in the number of its fighters and trainers. The Maariv report pointed that Hezbollah is seeking to reach a level of capability that would enable it to launch a thousand rockets on “Israel” during a 60-day period of time.
Citing Israeli intelligence assessments, the Israeli daily also estimated that the party was close to reaching this level of capacity as it can today send between 500 and 600 rockets a day to Tel Aviv and surrounding areas.
The report added that unlike the rockets fired during the 2006 war, Hezbollah’s present rockets are mostly long-range and mid-range missiles and in case a new war breaks out, the daily said, the center of “Israel” will be targeted with salvos of such rockets.
Maariv’s report also said that Hezbollah has spread its rockets in a more complicated manner for Israel to figure out, as most of them are heavier caliber rockets, more precise and longer in range.
The number of trained fighters, the report says, has increased from 5000 to 8000 well trained fighters and that Hezbollah is building fortified garrisons and underground systems to serve an organized deployment of fighters and field commanders between north and south Litani River areas. In case a confrontation takes place, the report said, a self-martyrdom unit would be called in to break through the border line and conduct operation against Israeli forces inside occupied territories, including martyrdom operations.

July 4 (Bloomberg) -- Vice President Joseph Biden told Iraqi leaders that the path to a secure peace lies in uniting ethnic and sectarian groups and said the U.S. might disengage from their country if it reverts to sustained violence.
Biden said he and President Barack Obama “appreciate that Iraq has traveled a great distance over the past year, but there is a hard road ahead if Iraq is going to find lasting peace and stability,” according to a press pool report of the vice president’s visit to Iraq.Biden was concluding a two-day visit in Baghdad yesterday, where he held talks with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and other leaders. Obama sent Biden to Iraq to reaffirm the U.S. commitment to help the country maintain its security while the U.S. military pullout proceeds there.
He also told Maliki that if Iraq fell into a period of sectarian violence or engaged in ethnic fighting, such a step would change the nature of U.S. engagement, a senior administration official said, according to the report. The aide did not offer specifics about the change, it said.

Even more enraging is the fact that the rally is used to honor all branches of the military. Could the Obama Administration be any more hostile to Christianity?.....
NAMPA, Idaho, July 3 -- This marks the first time in the 42 year history of the event that a flyover request was denied by the Pentagon.
The event is held ever year to honor the spiritual foundations of our country with a special emphasis on the men and women who serve in the armed forces.
In past years, the "God and Country Rally" has focused on honoring and paying tribute to those veterans who have served our nation in the past and those who are currently on active duty.
At the rally this year, all five branches of the armed services were featured with over 60 new recruits sworn into the military at the event.
After a phone conversation and an e-mail response from the Pentagon, Rally Director Patti Syme says they were denied the request for a flyover this year because of the "Christian" nature of the event.
The e-mail from the Pentagon can be seen here.
The Christian Defense Coalition says this is a "slap in the face" to all those who have proudly served or are currently on active duty in the armed services.
The group is concerned that this new policy may indicate an open hostility toward public expressions of faith by the Obama Administration. (ya think? -ed.)
Although a flyover using Air Force One to scare the ever-living-fuck out of New Yorkers so Obama can have a nice picture of his new plane is not a problem....

Current IAEA head Mohammed ElBaradei told the BBC last month it was his "gut feeling" that Iran was seeking the ability to produce nuclear arms, if it desired, as an "insurance policy" against perceived threats from neighboring countries or the United States.

Colin Powell, one of President Obama's most prominent Republican supporters, expressed concern Friday that the president's ambitious blitz of costly initiatives may be enlarging the size of government and the federal debt too much.
"I'm concerned at the number of programs that are being presented, the bills associated with these programs and the additional government that will be needed to execute them," Mr. Powell said in an excerpt of an interview with CNN's John King, released by the network Friday morning.
Mr. Powell, a retired U.S. army general who rose to political prominence after a long and accomplished military career, said that health care reform and many of Mr. Obama's other initiatives are "important" to Americans.
But, he said, "one of the cautions that has to be given to the president -- and I've talked to some of his people about this -- is that you can't have so many things on the table that you can't absorb it all."

If Bloomberg isn't receptive, "we may have to consider legal action," he said. "Discrimination may be an issue in this case."
Jackson said a bill that would mandate the holidays as state law has been introduced in Albany.
Susan Fani, a spokeswoman for the Catholic League, said she didn't oppose recognizing Muslim holidays in public schools, but was concerned that Catholics and Christians in the city were not treated with the same amount of respect and sensitivity.
"Catholics get a Santa Claus or a tree," but aren't allowed to display nativity scenes in school, Fani said. "We just want to make sure that the enthusiasm that City Council is showing towards Muslims is the same kind of enthusiasm they are showing toward Christians."

In Sarah Palin's resignation announcement she complained about the treatment of her son Trig who always teaches her life lessons. She said that the "world needs more Trigs, not fewer." That's a presidential campaign promise we can all get behind. She will be the first politician to actually try to increase the population of retarded people. To me, it's kinda like saying the world needs more cancer patients because they teach us such personal lessons.
Her first act as President: To introduce a Pre-K lunch buffet that includes lead paint chips. Sort of a Large HEAD-START Program.
She will then encourage women to hold off on pregnancies until their 40's just to mix up some chromosomes.
She now is in favor of abortion only in case of diploid birth.
Her policies will increase jobs because Wal-Mart is building new stores each day and someone has to be the greeter.
This will lead to smaller government because fewer Americans will have the cognitive ability to hold a government job

Ramallah - A group of Hamas militants tracked the movements of Mahmoud Abbas with the 'clear' intention of assassinating the Palestinian president, senior sources in Abbas' Fatah party told an Israeli newspaper Friday.
The Hamas members were caught with weapons, maps and photographs of senior officials in Abbas' West Bank-based administration, which showed he and others had been under surveillance, the sources told Haaretz.
The Hamas members belong to a West Bank cell whose arrest was announced by Palestinian Authority (PA) Secretary-General Tayeb Abdel Rahim in a news conference in Ramallah on Monday.
Palestinian security officials would not comment on the Haaretz claim that Abbas himself had been among the cell's targets. They told the German Press Agency that the investigation against the Hamas cell was ongoing and they were unable to discuss the case until its completion.

Pray for Pakistan's Christian, who've been subjected to a brutal new wave of anti-Christian violence.....
Faisalabad (AsiaNews) - Tortured at length by a group of Muslims, then arrested by police on charges – perfectly fabricated- that he had burned pages of the Koran. This is what happened last July 1st to Imran Masih, a young Christian from Hajwary, Faisalabad district, yet another victim of blasphemy. For the director of the Commission for Interreligious Dialogue "a new wave of anti-Christian extremism" has started.
Father Yousaf Yaqub, of the parish of Hajwary confirmed to AsiaNews that the allegations "are totally invented" and the reasons for the attack originate from "business questions."The shop belonging to the young Christian’s family, in fact, is better located and has higher revenues than others in the area. For fear of further attacks by extremists, the relatives of Masih fled to a secret hiding place.
"Imran was cleaning his fruit and vegetable shop –Fr. Yaqub reports – then he collected waste paper and burned it in the street, a common practice in the area. " The owner of a nearby shop accused the Christian of burning pages of the Koran, calling the attention of other Muslims. Before long, a crowd began to beat and torture the young man, who was only saved by police intervention. The testimony of another Muslim also favored the opening an investigation against Masih.
The news of his arrest and spread quickly through the various mosques in the city. The prison where the young Christian was being held was besieged by thousands of furious extremists, who called for his death. The crowd blocked the main roads and burned tires.

The most pro-baby killing president in history. Note: The word 'access' in any UN resolution has been fought tooth an nail by several European countries and the Vatican.....
At United Nations headquarters this week, the Obama administration continued its push for ever increasing access to legal abortion around the world. The Obama team has introduced language that has thrown a high level negotiation into a roil.
The US proposal calls for “universal access” to “sexual and reproductive health services including universal access to family planning.” The document under consideration will culminate in the 2009 Annual Ministerial Review, which convenes next
The sticking point for many delegations and what has driven apart the usual solid European bloc is the use of the word “services” in the context of “reproductive health.” Way back in 2001 during negotiations related to the ten year review of the Child Convention, a Canadian delegate blurted out “of course everyone knows ‘services’ means abortion.” Ever since, the word “services” has been a topic of hot debate.
So controversial is the topic of “services” in the context of “reproductive health” that the usually impenetrable negotiating bloc of the 27 member European Union has imploded with Malta, Poland and Ireland splitting from their allies and joining the Holy See in opposing the measure.
In addition to the word "services," delegates are also concerned with attempts to link “sexual and reproductive health” to “universal access,” something the UN has never agreed to and what would amount to a major gain for pro-abortion forces.

Your fucking brain dead supporters may not be able to spot an obvious lie (a "coincidence," are they serious?), but we can...because we have this magical ability to think for ourselves....
President Obama offered a wonkish defense of his embattled health-care reform effort during an hour-long town hall meeting in Northern Virginia yesterday that featured seven questions, including one sent via Twitter and several from a handpicked audience of supporters.
In the stage-managed event, questions for Obama came from a live audience selected by the White House and the college, and from Internet questions chosen by the administration's new-media team. Of the seven questions the president answered, four were selected by his staff from videos submitted to the White House Web site or from those responding to a request for "tweets."
The president called randomly on three audience members. All turned out to be members of groups with close ties to his administration: the Service Employees International Union, Health Care for America Now, and Organizing for America, which is a part of the Democratic National Committee.
White House officials said that was a coincidence.

This originally seemed like it was dead in the water after Mayor Bloomberg rejected it, but now it's not so clear if the New York City Council will get its way. Apparently the Mayor relinquished control to the board of education, so his authority to say no to the city council is shaky at best......
Will the New York City school system be compelled to commemorate Islam on Sept. 11?
It has been widely reported the New York City Council passed a resolution Tuesday recommending the school system shut down to commemorate two of the most important Muslim holidays, however the reports did not note the holidays fall on Sept. 11 in some years.
The council vote, which was non-binding, is at odds with the opinion of Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who has said he is opposed to adding any more days off to the school calendar. Bloomberg, however, recently relinquished control of the school system to a newly appointed board of education, which could approve the holiday plan. The Islamic holidays being considered for commemoration are Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr. The former commemorates the Islamic belief Abraham was willing to sacrifice Ishmail. The latter marks the end of the Islamic fast period of Ramadan. Jewish and Christian tradition relates Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son Isaac, not Ishmail. Islamic holidays are set based on the lunar calendar, meaning the dates corresponding to the Gregorian calendar change each year. As first noticed by Andrew Walden, publisher and editor of the Hawaii Free Press Eid al-Adha falls on Sept. 11 in the year 2016, according to the accepted Umm al-Qura calendar. Eid al-Fitr, meanwhile, will begin at sunset Sept. 9 and continue to sunset Sept. 10 next year. The dates, though, depend on the official citing of the new crescent moon as certified by the Saudi "hilal committee," which at times has shifted holidays by one or two days, meaning Eid-al-Fitr could technically also be celebrated on Sept. 11 in 2010. While Bloomberg recently handed control of the school system to a new education board, the state Senate could take action to put the mayor back in control. "Right now the degree of control the mayor has over the education system is completely unclear,"Councilman G. Oliver Koppell, the only council member to vote against the resolution, told FoxNews.com.

Affirmative action is racism, plain and simple....
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama said Thursday the Supreme Court is "moving the ball" to limit affirmative action, but he stressed that its ruling in favor of white firefighters still allows employers and educators to take race into account in hiring, promotions and admissions.
The president, a former constitutional law professor, avoided criticizing this week's 5-4 ruling even though it reversed a decision his own high court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, had endorsed as an appeals court judge. "This was a very narrow case, so it's hard to gauge where they will take it," Obama said in an interview with The Associated Press. The justices sidestepped a broad constitutional ruling on remedies for racial disparities and instead merely told public and private employers they could not easily discard promotion exams just because the results left no African-Americans likely to be promoted. As a senator, Obama voted against confirming two justices in the majority in the firefighters case: Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito, the two nominees of President George W. Bush.

No other nation needs to fight lawsuit after lawsuit after lawsuit when they use military means to defend their country. Consider the fact that many top IDF officers can not travel to Europe without being arrested on "war crimes" charges brought by international leftist groups, while Hamas and Hezbollah leaders are routinely welcomed with open arms....
The defense establishment is concerned at intensifying legal campaigns in foreign courts that aim to deter Israel from using force against Hamas and Hizbullah.
Reeling from four damning reports in one week from human rights organizations about the IDF's conduct in Operation Cast Lead, the sense among senior defense officials is that the "legal front" against Israel is growing at an alarming rate.
There is also a palpable urgency within the legal and defense establishments to thoroughly and professionally investigate allegations of war crimes against the IDF, not only because this has been standard practice, but also in an effort to ward off foreign lawsuits, investigations and arrest warrants against officers.
There is also a certain level of frustration within the defense establishment at the disconnect between what is believed here to have been a carefully thought-out operation, where huge efforts were invested in minimizing harm to Palestinian civilians, and the growing tide of international accusations of war crimesemanating from the offensive against Hamas six months ago.
"There is a war being waged against us in the legal sphere. Its aim is to delegitimize Israel and to create deterrence against a possible use of force in Gaza and Lebanon again," a senior defense official told The Jerusalem Post.

KABUL, Afghanistan-- An American soldier captured in southeastern Afghanistan is being held by a notorious militant clan, a senior U.S. military official said.
the American and three Afghan soldiers were captured by low-level militants and then quickly "sold" to the clan led by warlord Siraj Haqqani -- believed to be deeply involved in the action.
The Haqqanis operate on both sides of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border and are well known to the U.S. military. They are assembling shuras, or local councils of leaders, to talk and try to "legitimize" what they have done, the official said.
U.S., Afghan and Pakistani troops are sealing off the area and also are talking to tribal chiefs, village elders and leaders.
They are telling them to "do the right thing and solve this," the official said.
The U.S. military is telling people not to let Haqqani operatives move through their area and to find the American and return him. The military wants to make sure there is "no shelter" for the militants holding him.
Obama should show them this footage and say, if our soldier is harmed in any way shape or form we're going to unleash a fleet of these over asses:

During his Cairo speech, Obama couldn't even bring himself to make a passing reference to the oppression Christians face living in Islamic countries like Egypt....
WASHINGTON (BP)--An Egyptian court has granted custody of Coptic Christian twins to their mother but also ruled that the twins must be considered Muslim on their identification cards.Kamilia Gaballah, the mother of Andrew and Mario, has fought with her ex-husband Medhat Ramses Labib over custody and alimony support of their sons in more than 40 different cases since he left her and converted to Islam so that he could remarry in 1999. In 2007, Labib changed the religious affiliation on the boys' birth certificates from Christian to Muslim without their consent.
Egyptian law, ICC said, requires citizens to indicate religious affiliation on their identification cards, which allow them to receive government and private services such as education, employment and bank transactions. Being listed as Muslim on their identification cards could disqualify the boys from receiving a Christian education, ICC said.
When ICC asked why the boys decided to remain Christian, Andrew responded, "I love Christ, and I believe in Him." Mario said, "I am born Christian, and I believe in Christianity, and I am not going to change my faith."

The Swiss government shot down a proposed law banning new minaret construction, now it's up to the people to decide.....
(TVNZ 7/2/09)- Switzerland will hold a referendum on banning the construction of new minarets on November 29 in response to a petition for a popular vote on the issue, the government said.
A group of politicians from the Swiss People's Party (SVP) and Federal Democratic Union gathered enough signatures last year to force the referendum, but the government opposes a ban.
Switzerland is home to more than 300,000 Muslims - about four percent of the population - as well as hundreds of mosques, but only a handful of the mosques have a minaret tower and applications to build more prompted the campaign for a ban.
Supporters of a ban say minarets do not have any religious justification but are symbols of Islamic power which injures Swiss constitutional rights to religious freedom.

At the State Department, spokesman Ian C. Kelly said the department's top diplomat for the Americas, Thomas Shannon, met with Zelaya at OAS headquarters on Tuesday evening. Kelly would not reveal details, except to say Zelaya thanked the administration for supporting his unconditional return to power.
What a shockingly not-shocking turn of events.....
Carrying out their threat, the Iranian representatives staged a walkout during President Shimon Peres's keynote address at the Congress of World and Traditional Religions in Astana, Kazakhstan on Wednesday morning, refusing to return as long as the Israeli leader spoke.
"We have come to listen to religious leaders," Iranian delegation member Mehdi Mostafavi told The Jerusalem Post," and Peres is not a religious leader."
When asked if he would speak to the attending Israeli chief rabbis or any of the American rabbis present, Mostafavi, an adviser to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said: "We'll see."
Another member of the Iranian delegation, one of Mostafavi's aides, spoke with Israeli journalists during the joint exodus through the hallways of the Astana convention center, ascertaining that "Israel won't attack us [Iran]; we're not afraid of Israel or the United States."
"Your president is a stealer of lands and a conqueror, and we're not willing to hear him," the delegate continued. "Peres represents an abominable Zionist personality, and his place is not here [at the interfaith conference]."

[Gibbs:] "I don't want to get ahead of some very important meetings tomorrow between Ehud Barak and George Mitchell, except to say that we're optimistic about making progress," he said.
The US State Department is aware of the criticism, including on the part of commentators and column writers, who say that Israel is being demanded to freeze settlements while the Palestinians and Arabs are sitting on the fence and doing nothing.
Mitchell met with Ehud Barak, without a closing statement making demands. Simply acknowledging "disagreements":
Barak: Meeting with Mitchell was good, but differences remainComing from a guy who worships a pedophile, this doesn't carry much weight....
CRAZED Islamic cleric Anjem Choudary yesterday hit back at French President Nicolas Sarkozy, 54, for trying to ban the burka by branding his wife a prostitute.
He said former model Carla Bruni, 41, represents the face of a depraved Western society where women are treated like sex objects.Choudary, 42, below, wrote on the Islam4UK website: “Sarkozy may be content with being wed to a prostitute who flaunts her body to the world believing it to be righteous conduct, but he is reminded that a Muslim is not this shallow and depraved.”

Didn't Barack Obama the candidate continuously say he'll "listen to the generals on the ground?" Shockingly, that was just another line of bullshit.....
CAMP LEATHERNECK, Afghanistan -- National security adviser James L. Jones told U.S. military commanders here last week that the Obama administration wants to hold troop levels here flat for now, and focus instead on carrying out the previously approved strategy of increased economic development, improved governance and participation by the Afghan military and civilians in the conflict.
Now suppose you’re the president, Jones told them, and the requests come into the White House for yet more force. How do you think Obama might look at this? Jones asked, casting his eyes around the colonels. How do you think he might feel?
Jones let the question hang in the air-conditioned, fluorescent-lighted room. Nicholson and the colonels said nothing.
Well, Jones went on, after all those additional troops, 17,000 plus 4,000 more, if there were new requests for force now, the president would quite likely have “a Whiskey Tango Foxtrot moment.” Everyone in the room caught the phonetic reference to WTF — which in the military and elsewhere means “What the [expletive]?”
Nicholson and his colonels — all or nearly all veterans of Iraq — seemed to blanch at the unambiguous message that this might be all the troops they were going to get.

America's generosity shouldn't be unconditional.....
QASIM PULA, Pakistan —Islamist charities and the United States are competing for the allegiance of the two million people displaced by the fight against the Taliban in Swat and other parts of Pakistan — and so far, the Islamists are in the lead.
Although the United States is the largest contributor to a United Nations relief effort, Pakistani authorities have refused to allow American officials or planes to deliver the aid in the camps for displaced people. The Pakistanis do not want to be associated with their unpopular ally. Meanwhile, in the absence of effective aid from the government, hard-line Islamist charities are using the refugee crisis to push their anti-Western agenda and to sour public opinion against the war and the United States. Last week, a crowd of men, the heads of households uprooted from Swat, gathered here in this village in northwestern Pakistan for handouts for their desperate families. But before they could even get a can of cooking oil, the aid director for a staunchly anti-Western Islamic charity took full advantage of having a captive audience, exhorting the men to jihad.“The Western organizations have spent millions and billions on family planning to destroy the Muslim family system,”said the aid director, Mehmood ul-Hassan, who represented Al Khidmat, a powerful charity of the strongly anti-American political party Jamaat-e-Islami.
The Western effort had failed, he said, but Pakistanis should show their strength by joining the fight against the infidels. The authorities’ insistence that the Americans remain nearly invisible reveals the deep strains that continue to underlie the American-Pakistani relationship, even as cooperation improves in the fight against the Taliban, and public support for the war grows in Pakistan. Yet Islamist and jihadist groups openly work the camps. “Because of the lack of international agencies, there is a vacuum filled by actors that are Islamist and more than that, jihadist,” said Kristele Younes, a senior advocate with Refugees International, a Washington group established in 1979.

Apparently a delicious blend of blended fruit and ice offends Allah to the point where people will blow themselves up to stop others from drinking them.....
They are considered risque dens of iniquity and have been bombed simply for providing a place where men and women can (gasp) talk to each other.
Fruit juice bars may seem an unusual front line in Pakistan's war on Islamic militancy, but many of their owners feel deserving of combat pay these days for serving up cold smoothies. Although there haven't been any attacks for several months, fears linger and many people say they're aware that violence could come at any time.Attacks on fresh juice bars in Lahore late last year centered on the Garhi Shahu neighborhood, where bearded men crouched on low stools in front of small shops gossip, gulp down sweet tea and launch tobacco clouds skyward from communal hookahs.
It's also a part of Lahore where many Afghans and Uzbeks have settled, residents say, creating a subculture of Islamic fundamentalism in a historically more tolerant city.
Anti-Taliban cleric Sarfraz Naeemi was killed in the neighborhood last month by a suicide bomber.Navigating through a jumble of parked motorcycles brings you to Dasko Juice, decorated with dusty, low-hanging fruit of the plastic variety, a picture of London's Tower Bridge and pyramids of canned orange juice.
The reason Dasko was among those attacked with bombs late last year is six booths in an adjoining room, some of which have small curtains for privacy, where men and women can chat discreetly.
"Basically it's just a place where girls and boys come and drink juice," says Mohammed Naeem, Dasko's owner, dressed in a shalwar kameez, the traditional loose-fitting pants and long shirt."These people try and portray us as immoral, but it's not true. They're just sitting and talking, but that's a threat to them."
